IJAZA (certificate) in Quran memorization with the continued chain of narrators back to the Prophet (PBUH)

Supervised by Sheikh Nabil Sallam, Al Azhar Al Sharif 

(Chain of narration 26 from the Prophet (PBUH))

This program is designed for students who are interested in memorizing the entire Quran, and mastering its recitation with the proper rules of ajweed. Students begin with the most common Qiraa’ (style) of narration (Hafs ‘an ‘Asim).  Note: Other Qiraa’ are available.

Upon completion of the requirements of Quran memorization and recitation, the student will be awarded the IJAZA (Certificate) in Quran memorization with the continued chain of narration back to the Prophet (PBUH).


  • Ability to read the Quran fluently
  • Successful completion of the rules and implementation of Tajweed
  • Complete and pass an admission interview
  • Recommended age is 15 years and older

Admission Requirements:

  • Completion of Ar-Rahmah Academy student application
  • Applicants under 18 years of age need guardian’s approval

Program Information:

  • The duration of the IJAZA program is 30 months for beginners and 6-18 months for Huffath
  • Each student will be assigned to a certified Ijaza instructor
  • Student will meet one-on-one with his/her instructor for one hour per week
  • Student must practice memorization independently before meeting with the instructor
  • Student must read the entire Quran (from Al-Fatiha to An-Nas) with the same instructor
  • Out-of-state students may complete the program by phone
  • Students must pass final IJAZA exam
  • After completion of the first IJAZA, interested students may apply to continue in the other Qiraa’
  • Class timings will be decided between the teacher and the student


  • Tuition is $250 for each quarter for 10 quarters. In addition, an Ijaza fee of $500 is due upon issuance of the Ijaza. Note: The prerequisite courses such as Tajweed and Arabic have separate fees
  • The tuition may be paid in full, or in monthly installments
  • Students with financial needs may apply for partial or full sponsorship
  • Sponsorship depends upon the approval and availability of sponsors
  • Student may help to secure his/her own sponsor to avoid the wait
  • Students who can’t complete the program within 30 months, may continue with the program, but they have to pay $100 monthly fees until they complete their reading
  • Upon successful completion of their Ijaza, students who received sponsorship must teach 2 students through the Ar-Rahmah Academy Ijaza Program
