MAPS-AMEN (American Muslim Empowerment Network) is hosting its inaugural Youth Advocacy Workshop to Combat Islamophobia this Sunday 1/15 from 1pm to 5pm at Seattle University. Last chance to register is now!

This youth empowerment workshop is for all youth 6th to 12th grade.  Not only will you learn how to use your voice and personal story through media to combat anti-Muslim bigotry and violence, but the writing coaches we are lining up are amazing! We have talented writers like award-winning freelance journalist and published author Reagan Jackson, spoken word artist and attorney/activist Nikkita Oliver, recently-elected Superior Court Judge Nicole A. G. Phelps, outspoken activist and Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg, youth counselor and Pastor Tim Oleson, co-manager of RadioActive Youth Media at KUOW Jenny Asarnow, rising star journalists Varisha Khan and Roukhya Ouedraogo (Seattle Globalist), and so many more! You won’t want to miss this.

And check out the broad and very diverse coalition of over 90 groups co-sponsoring this event (!  Media will also be present.

If you need free transportation from MAPS to Seattle University for the event, register for that here (in addition to registering for the event):

We look forward to seeing you there!
