Women’s Self-Defense Classes Orientation

Women’s Self-Defense classes are starting at MAPS last week of August. This is an orientation to discuss the program with all the women who are interested in taking the classes.


What you’ll learn in the classes:

Learn how to defend yourself against a bigger person when grabbed, attacked with hand, knife, gun and other weapons. Train with a 120 lb dummy to learn takedowns and learn how to fight on the ground. Sharpen your reflexes, heighten your awareness and boost your confidence. Increase your speed and develop your accuracy. Find your core strength and learn how to use it so that a person 2x your size would still not be able to push you. Instead of making yourself physically bigger and stronger, learn how to use your small body to your advantage by using leverage, not power. These classes will be taught by Instructor Fauzia who has 12 years of martial arts training and 2 first-degree black belts.


What you’ll get from the orientation:

We’ll talk about the content of the classes and vote on class timings, location and ranking system. If you’d like to vote on what times work best for you and how you want to measure success, please come to the orientation! $5 recommended donation to cover healthy snacks and drinks.
